Lausanne Triathlon Pictures

Just an update, the Lausanne Triathlon WORLD CHAMPS was a blast, but I was off for a 'Triathlon' of my own down in Spain on that weekend.

Pictures of the event can be found plentiful on the web, but among my favs are TEEPEE T who posted his very professional pics of the event on FLICKR.
My fav is the one with all the athletes getting ready to jump in the water

Here are a few pics of my own first Lausanne Citizen triathlon. The 10% Uphill climbs will not soon be forgotten....

Went on a training ride tonight along LAKE GENEVA from OUCHY to VEVEY.It is a nice 25 KM one way trip with a very flat surface. To spice the ride up it's recommended that at the first intersection before VEVEY that you trun Right towards CHEXBRES , nicknamed the TERRASE of LAKE GENEVA. This quaint wine producing town offers great views of the lake.

The HOTEL- LE BARON TAVERNIER is a stop worth as their Restaurant - LE DECK has one of the most magnicifent views of Lake Geneva. It is recommended to RESERVE if you are going for dinner there.

After coasting down the hill side at speeds of anywhere between 50 Km and 60 KM per HOUR, you will hit the lakeside town of CULLY, another great wine town. Do stop off and taste some of their famous Chasselas White wines down at the harbour. SANTE!!

2006 Lausanne Triathlon World Championship BLOG

Just created this blog to make sure that the BLOG community also has a voice for the 2006 International Triathlon Union's World Championships which are being held August 26, 27 and August 30, September 2 and 3, 2006.

Only 2 days left before the quiet harbour of Ouchy, Lausanne explodes with the talents of the first ever Triathlon Olympic Gold medalist Simon Whitfield, aswell as the 2004 Olympic Champion, Hamish Carter among many others.

The entire area around le port d'Ouchy is being transformed into a triathletes dream (as you can see above with the pictures which I took tonight).Even the starting board for the swimmers has been placed , behind the majestic Beau Rivage Palace . The Beau Rivage Palace's Spa can be recommended for any triathlete who wants to forget the competition and soak in their World Famous Cinq Mondes SPA.

If you are an athlete and you want to connect with home, it is good to know that the city of Lausanne has Free Wireless throughout Lausanne. Furthermore, if you find yourself down near the Starting line of this year's triathlon (near the Port de la Navigation), you can freely access the WIFI.

I will be posting during the next few days, so if you have any comments or queries make sure to post to this BLOG.
